Clockwise from left

3. Alexander McQueen iphone sleeve and cuff

I want to dress in a way that is simple, yet classic, and elegant. I think there is really something to be said about, not only buying expensive clothing (this is really only the first step), but being able to wear them in a way that gives justice. I sigh out loud when I see expensive, beautiful garments worn in a way which, undermines their beauty. I cannot imagine how frustrating this is for the designer and I can only hope that they never see their clothes being worn in such a way.

I think there is also a way in which we can dress to look expensive, classy and elegant without spending extreme amounts of money. Dressing to suit our bodies is, in my opinion, the most important aspect. And not following trends for the sake of being "cool". You will always look and feel better if you instead concentrate on wearing things that suit you and reflect your personality.

So, having blabbed on a bit too much (feel free to gloss over my rambles), this is my dream outfit at the moment. I don't think I will ever tire of Balenciaga's derby boots, and Acne make the perfect denim jackets. Paired with a simple, clean cut Wang shirt dress and Comme des Garçon clutch (plus some sneaky phone and arm bling) I think this outfit is the image of sophistication and cool.

wang and the twins

My top fashion crushes right now are mr alexander wang and the Olsen twins. Wang has such a air of coolness about him. He oozes minimalist sophistication and his attention to detail in his designs is so refreshing. He looks like someone who works hard at what he does and takes pride in perfecting his craft.

The Olsen twins are an entity of their own really. They too ooze a level of sophistication most people can only dream of embodying. They also have a hard-working mentality and I admire how much they have achieved already in life.

I find it really interesting reflecting like this. Nutting out who you admire and why, really makes you think about what you value in life and what qualities you strive to achieve. Obviously I admire hard workers and strive to be successful in whatever field I choose to pursue...

...who do you admire?

day at the beach

i know, i know! I am getting rather carried away with this 'ideal outfit' craze.
this one… a day at the beach (three guesses where I'm heading off to today!)

How great are these bikinis by the way?? And as you can see my obsession with T-shirt dresses is still at large.

in between

For all those disappointing Summer days when baring your legs is not really an appealing option.
I am currently loving the loose-fit, cropped nature of summery denim, and paired with a soft white tee-shirt and some comfy sandals there is really no better solution to those in-between days.

ox blood

Ever since I saw these pictures of ultra babes Alexa Chung and Rumi (fashiontoast) wearing head to toe burgundy I have been rather infatuated with the shade.

This A. Wang leather skirt is at the centre of my infatuation...in all its über simple, leathery glory. I can just imagine the softness of the leather.

spring into action (i.e 2013)

i must admit i was not all that enthralled by the array of spring 2013 collections. despite my usual enthusiasm for fashion week's offerings, few designers had me feeling anything more than mild excitement.

alexander wang never fails to deliver, and the collection of laser cut, crisp white dresses and heady leatherwear was very much pleasing– albeit it rather expected, and a little lacking in refreshing juices (if you know what i mean).

stella mc cartney steered away from her previous vision of digital prints and floral explosions, presenting something all the more crisp and clean. the boxy silhouettes and lowered waist lines made for a rather masculine theme only to be challenged by the plunging v neck lines and dramatically split hemlines.

acne had me drawn in by the concept of layering loose fitting clothes with tailored, tighter pieces, and balenciaga's focus on box-like silohuette, and tissue-like skirts was also a source of inspiration.

have a nice day

This post has been a rather long time coming, with me working on it for the last few days. This week has been fairly hectic to say the least with my time being stretched between numerous doctor's appointments, uni commitments and work. There has been little opportunity to scratch my nose, let alone write a blog post. Hopefully you can forgive my lack of 'online presence'– I certainly promise to post more often now that I am on holidays. Yes, as of today I am officially finished uni for the semester, and am therefore free! Yaya.
My list of things to do is slowly compiling...so far looking a something like this...
- finish that bloody blog post
- visit Ksubi & Green with Envy for the awesome sales (in lieu of this, online stores will definitely suffice)
- find Daiso and bask in its promised Japanese glory
- seek out the Made by a Friend of Mine sample sale before it finishes
- order a box of chocolates from Loving Earth
- organise a sushi night
- wash my hair

So, to number one on the list....

I have recently decided that the time to invest in a 'classy' 'forever' bag is nigh.
Up until this point I have made do with my much-loved Fjäll Raven Kanken babies. As much as I love them and will continue to use them until they literally fall apart, I am realising that having a beautifully versatile, leather bag could be rather pleasant and, dare I say, worth the large investment.

It is exactly that– an investment piece. Therefore requiring a large amount of research and deliberation. This is not a purchase I can rush– or want to for that matter. I will take my time, do the proper research and hopefully end up with the perfect thing.

I have come up with the following criteria...

  • must be black
  • must be leather
  • my stubborn efforts to avoid using that god-awful word 'tote' have been thwarted by the fact that I find myself scrounging for any other fitting word. So I must give in and say that... it needs to be of the "tote" variety– i.e. large and relaxed in style.
  • it needs to be lacking in adornment– unfussy. That means no studs, chains, sparkles, dinky lockets
  • it needs to beautiful and I need to love it (this goes without saying mind you...)

So with the aforementioned criteria, I have found the following bags

1. Cast of Vices Smiley shopper
I actually cannot get over how rad this bag is. I have had this bags plastic counterpart sitting on my mantel piece for the last few weeks and have wanted to use it as a handbag for just about as long. Literally one of the coolest things I have seen in a long time. I mean, it is called a "shopper"– how cool is that?
2. Deadly ponies Mr Hutch Bowler
Another classic and beautiful creation from the australian designers. Sans their signature fur, but definitely not sans sophistication and complexity of design– all bound together into something so sleek and simple looking.
3. Alexander Wang Donna shoulder bag
I am forever a fan of everything Mr A Wang makes, so naturally this bag is destined to delight. I love its slouched form and iPhone sized pockets on the front. The two toned leather is also kind-a fab, melding my love of navy with the versatility of black.
4. Marni convertible leather shoulder bag
I love a good back-pack, and this little convertible number gives the best of both hand and shoulder bag worlds.
5. Ameko leather slouch shoulder bag
The simplicity and relaxed shape of this bag promises for endless carrying comfort
6. Baggu Endlessly Useful shopper
Combine "baggu" with "shopper" and you get this rad little number. No its not leather and no its not really what I am after, but its cheap as chips and like a classy plastic bag– what is there not to love.
7. Deadly ponies Mr Chain Gang
8. Rebecca Minkoff Romeo satchel
This is probably (aside from the shoppers) my favourite. The two-textured leather and almost prismatic shape is really beautiful. I also love the choice of handles and therefore carrying options.

resort 2011, instalment one

After traipsing through countless resort collections, i have stumbled upon a few main themes; the first of them being a kind of soft, angular paleness, which seems contradictory beautiful and enticing. The sweet young aroma of pale skin and juvenility are combined with this harsh, striking contrast between black and white, and i must admit i am totally digging it.
I can feel myself falling into the welcoming grasp of minimalist dressing (almost but not quite), simply for its beautiful neatness and clean feeling. The crispness in a simple, impeccably tailored dress is mesmerising...

i say almost, because (this brings me to my next instalment) the pattern and colour within some of the resort collections made me gasp with pure joy.......i will, however get to this later.
